TGIF!

He! It has been one long week. One during which I overslept one weekday. Picture getting up, checking your watch expecting to see 6.10 or even 7.10 and seeing 8.10am!

8.10am!!!! I literally shrieked those words, lept out of bed and dashed to the bathroom. Good thing the male usurper had left because he'd have had a shock at the sight of me nguoless (i fear strangulation in sleep. I once woke up to find my knee joint out of the socket. True story. And I blame mingi clothing to date). Anyway, got the bathroom and had that agonising minute debating, to shower or spray...hehehe. Aaaah, but I saved the nastiness for another day - I brushed my teeth! Fast Forward and I shamelessly strutted into the office over an hour late (I figured I was already late anyhow).

So, I was wondering. What happened to my body clock? Do you have a body clock? Ama it's only me who has the habit of somehow always managing to get up just a minute before the alarm goes off (ok, so it's set at 7am by which time the traffic alone is enough to wake me up but still). Ama when you have gotten used to getting up at 3am or 5am to chop, somehow your body knows that time and you find yourself waking up at appointed hour without fail? Who, what, how is the body clock set? And can we "switch" it off. (It annoys me to no end. I love my sleep to the very last minute. So waking up earlier than planned, albeit even by a minute, and I am ongezaring another 10 minutes of sleelp, hehehe). Baba Boi, this one's for you to scratch your scientific mind around and get me an answer pronto.

And now to harp shamelessly. This is my space - sue me.

I love giving back to society. One way is through organising charitable events and the like, and i find Rotaract and Rotary a good avenue because the mad people there! Anyway, they are organising a Bowling event at Village Market (I hear it's called Vima - no, Mwalimu, that's not a twisted sheng word like for....er... like risto) on Sunday 18th March '07. Tickets will go for 500 bob. The funds raised are for the management of the Rotaract VCT Centre located on 5th Floor of Phoenix Hse, Kenyatta Avenue. By the way, that's the only VCT Centre in town and was voted the best of '06. So, want to support a worthy cause in a fun way - come join us that Sunday. I'll be the one crying over my broken nails.

And finally, this being the start of a weekend, thought you might find the following handy...hehehe...

At least you made it to jobo! I know that feeling of waking up late, so I set my cellphone and bedside clock. Some mornings I debate whether or not it's worth it to get up.

Bowling for charity sounds fun.

Love the applications for a night out=)

My body clock is non-existant. if i dont set the alarm i can sleep till kingdom come. And i have that bad habit of setting my alarm 15mins before the time i have to get up. When it then rings i switch it off and go on sleeping...you can imagine how many times i have overslept.
Those applications....very funny!

@Archer: You cheat...hehehe.

@Girl Neighbour: There was a day it was so bad I called in sick and bummed the entire day. Sometimes, it bids!

@SmallSis: Ha! I'll see you on 18th then. As for those forms, I have another one for parents to potential dates of their kids. I will sakanya it and send it to you, hehe.

@Chatterly: Those ones I have pulled before and I have Warning Letters to prove it, hehehe.

@Ban2-2: Si lucky you. Kwanza, you'd think that as I live near the office I'd be early. For some reason nimeamua I need less time to prepare in the morning yet I am always rushing around in stress.

Body clock. Hmm.. *gears turning, buzzers humming, electrons swirling about* Eureka! (ok, not exactly like Archimedes (is that mwanamishale mende?) who leapt nguoless out of his bathtub with a solution... where am I going with this?). N'ways, I am fortunate I don't have a set time I have to be at work, so, practically speaking, I could never be late. Thank God for flex time!

After getting used to waking up a certain time every day, my body automatically does so at that same time. Unless I've slept very late the previous day. Even on weekends, a time will come when my body wakes up, and I have to get out of bed before getting back in if I want to sleep more.

Big ups on the Rotaract. I'm enjoying the calendar kabisa! If there, I'd have given you my nail protection formula so you could bowl away bila worries.

Eh, those forms. Each time I see them I see red :)

My body clock can act up sometimes the battery low and others just decides to let the alarm go off too early otherwise I tend to oversleep and get in the office looking like have already worked the good thing of not being office confined.
Would have joined you for bowling but am working.

I dint see the forms nakataa.

@Mocha: Ati body clock on silent, on vibrate. Eeeh, you sleep all that time? We should start a list of excuses to give to the boss for being late.

@DQ: He! And how was Venus? Who did you meet? How was the trip back? Ha! Si we switch body clocks then? Mine wakes me up but I am still to get one that can GET me out of bed...hehe

My body clock also gets me up before the alarm on my mobile but all I do is put on the radio and go back to sleep until 15 minutes before I have to get out of the house within which I have to shower,brush, dress and prepare my cold cereal.
Those forms are really wicked.

I hate the sound of any alarm so my body automatically wakes itself up right before the alarm goes off!! It is pretty amazing!!

The applications are hilarious!!!

Ichiena said...

@Kirima: Karibu kwangu. Now...15 minutes to shower, brush, dress and prepare cold cereals??? Ama Shower is on Monday, Brush on Tuesday, Dress on Wednesday....hehehe.

@Mwangi: 4am! OK, that sucks.

@Princess: Sasa. Er..."pretty amazing" is usually the last thought on my mind when I wake up before the alarm goes off. My thoughts are usually in the line of "Arrggh", "Eeeek" and "Grrrrr"

Yeah, I have been to the Phoenix VCT and I am happy that you are raising cash for it…was scary at first but a nice chick there took me through it all so well mpaka I 4got I was there courtesy of my sexual escapades and the resultant fear of God that my mom punched into me during my childhood and which follows me up to now. So as the VCT lady was stroking (ok,massaging) my finger to draw blood drops for testing I thought haiya, si she looks cute and I can try to katia her and then…SHINDWE! but are you sure that is the only VCT in tao? What about the other one at ST JOHN’S AMBULANCE HOUSE? Ama that is not city center? Anway kudos,

Ichiena said...

@Totobaya: Didnt know about the St John's one. Niiice. No matter how many times to you go VCTing, it's always scary. It doesnt matter how innoncent or sexcapadeless your life has been. So you will come for bowling?

Weee, that mama is well taken. Well taken.
